Scottish Penpals

After weeks of waiting our packages arrived all the way from Scotland! The Barley home group spent Friday morning excitedly opening letters from their pen pals. They read all about the lives of students on the other side of the world and promptly replied with lots of questions and the hopes of another letter soon.

So who are our Scottish friends you ask? This is what we have found out so far:

Their school is called St Leonard’s Primary School and it located in East Kilbride in Glasgow Scotland. The town of East Kilbride has an approximate  population of 80,000 people. It was a new town set up after World War 2 and this year they are celebrating their 70th birthday.  They will also  be celebrating St Andrews Day, who is the Patron Saint of Scotland, on the 30th of November.

We are so excited to have this opportunity to learn about another culture and making some new friends. Thank you to Kelly and Paul for connecting us!

What is your pen pal’s name?

What did you learn about the Scottish culture?

Sounds very exciting Barley! I hope you enjoy getting to know your pen pals and comparing life in Scotland and Australia.
