“Change and Grow in the Light of the Lord”

Once again, the learning spaces of SMCM showed their flexibility and adaptability to suit our needs. The multipurpose room and former temporary home group learning space went through a change and transformed today into the Sacred Space to accommodate the Middle’s and Senior’s Ash Wednesday Liturgy. A new liturgical season brought about a change of colour of cloth and once again we were reminded of the closeness of God and that Jesus is Present and Active in our lives. Thank you to the parents and family members who joined us in celebrating this special occasion.

  • Why is Ash Wednesday an important day?
  • What special ceremony was conducted during the liturgy? What does this symbol represent?
  • What action will you take on during Lent to follow in Jesus’ footsteps?

Ash Wednesday is important because it is the start of Lent. Lent is the season of fasting which reminds us of the fasting of Jesus Christ for 40 days.
Ash from palm branches is used to draw a cross on the forehead of a person. It reminds us that we are from dust and to dust we shall return.
I will fast by not eating too much and using a lot of iPad.

Ash Wednesday is important because it get us ready for the beginning of lent. This year I would like to follow Jesus’s steps by being kind and flexible.
